Insurance Deadline Extension (NEW)
On August 25, 2006 the Louisiana Supreme Court found the insurance filing deadline extension to be constitutional. As a result, all people with homeowners insurance in Louisiana have until September 3, 2007 to file suit or legal action for any claim for property damages caused by Hurricane Katrina, and shall have until September 25, 2007 to file suit or legal action with regard to any claim for property damages caused by Hurricane Rita.

The Hurricane Katrina Homeowner's Grant Program (NEW)
The Program is designed to provide financial assistance to those homeowners outside the flood plain whose homeowner's insurance did not cover structural flood damage. Single-family homes, owner-occupied duplexes and manufactured housing including mobile homes are eligible for grants under this program.
